What is a common symptom of conjunctivitis?

Eye redness is a common symptom of conjunctivitis, often known as "pink eye." This condition occurs when the conjunctiva, the thin membrane that covers the front of the eye and lines the inside of the eyelids, becomes inflamed. The redness is typically caused by the dilation of blood vessels in the conjunctiva, making the eye appear pink or red. Other symptoms may include itching, discharge, and tearing, but eye redness is one of the most recognizable and prominent signs.
